The Lakes Of Boulder Ridge Is A Favorite Among Friends

Couple looking to downsize move to The Lakes of Boulder Ridge because of the community's ranch home designs and a maintenance-free lifestyle.

With so many options to choose from, these homes have a real custom feel -- Faith Kierna.

When Faith and Tom Kierna started thinking about moving to a new home, they did what many people do—talked to their friends. Luckily for them, a couple they knew from Cary had moved to The Lakes of Boulder Ridge and encouraged them to visit. They did…and quickly purchased a home there, as well.

“We lived in Cary our entire lives, and we didn’t find a neighborhood that presented the house type we were looking for,” said Faith Kierna, referring to The Lakes of Boulder Ridge golf course community in Lake In The Hills. “So when the time came, we were willing to move from Cary for the home type and lifestyle that Boulder Ridge provided.”

She explained that as empty nesters, the Kiernas found themselves in a home that was simply too large for their needs. They were drawn to the Brentwood ranch at The Lakes of Boulder Ridge because of its size—it has approximately 1,700 square feet of space on one level. Faith appreciates that “everything is right there and it all flows so well and feels so cozy.”

High ceilings visually open the space and make it live large while tall cabinets allow for plenty of storage in the kitchen.

“It’s been a bit of an adjustment to downsize,” Kierna admitted. “But the finished basement and lock and leave lifestyle sold us.”

Adding another 1,500 square feet, the finished basement includes a bedroom and bath along with entertaining space. That means the Kiernas can comfortably invite lots of friends and family over for holidays or any time.

The Brentwood is one of four duplex designs offered by Plote Homes at The Lakes of Boulder Ridge. Homes have 1,710 to 2,254 square feet of space, two bedrooms, two baths, and two-car garages for base prices that range from $313,900 to $353,900.

Something else that attracted the Kiernas to The Lakes of Boulder Ridge was the fact that they could personalize their new home. They added decorative elements such as tray ceilings and crown molding, and upgraded to the luxury master bath. They even added a screened-in porch, one of the most popular options buyers at the community choose.

“With so many options to choose from—more than a typical tract builder—these homes have a real custom feel,” said Kierna.

While they were able add their own personal touches, the Kiernas did not have to wait long to move because they purchased a home that was available for quick delivery. Although the duplex was already under construction, the couple still had the opportunity to pick their interior finishes and colors. Overall, it was a quick process—they started home shopping at the end of May and were moved in by September.

“We sold our old home in three days,” she said. “Plote Homes was wonderful, working with us to coordinate our move-in date.”

The builder also was helpful in keeping the homebuyers on track with the quick build, providing deadlines for selections and stages of construction. Having built three homes before, the couple was familiar with new construction and found the building quality to be exceptional, too.

Beyond the home itself, the Kiernas fell in love with the Boulder Ridge community. The property backs up to the west nine of the Boulder Ridge Country Club and is meticulously well manicured. In fact, all yard work in the warm weather and snow removal in cold months is handled by the homeowners’ association. This leaves the couple with more time to spend on activities they enjoy. They are dining members of the club and already have met all the neighbors on their street. Living at The Lakes of Boulder Ridge also means the Kiernas are never far from shopping, dining, recreation, and more—all along the Randall Road corridor.

With such a smooth process and a home they love, the Kiernas have told some of their friends about The Lakes of Boulder Ridge. And who knows…they may become the next new homeowners at this country club community.
