NPower Establishes Regional Advisory Board for San Francisco Area IT Training and Job Placement Program for Veterans and Veteran Spouses
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 27, 2017 -- NPower, a national nonprofit providing free technology training and job placement assistance, announces today the launch of a regional advisory board for NPower California (NPower CA).The region, which has offices and training centers in San Mateo and Alameda, serves military veterans and veteran spouses.
“The decision to establish a regional advisory board is rooted in our deep belief that success for our students is dependent upon a strong network of committed partners,” said Bertina Ceccarelli, Chief Executive Officer of NPower. “We will rely on our local regional advisory board members to support our program in many ways, including sharing expertise and advocating for NPower within the corporate and government communities and identifying and cultivating funding and engagement opportunities for our programs.”
“Our preliminary goal in establishing a regional advisory board is two-fold,” said Dann Bergman, Regional Director of NPower CA, “First, our board will identify the skills needed today and in the future for a successful career in technology so that NPower can offer curricula that gets our students job-ready. Second, our board members will help us grow NPower’s CA reach and funding.” A number of members have engaged with NPower for several years as volunteer mentors and employers of paid internships for graduates.
Regional board members are senior leaders in related fields aligned with NPower’s vision who understand how technology training can change the trajectory of a veteran’s career and benefit their families. Representatives have strong regional networks from diverse industries and backgrounds including: corporate, government, education, nonprofit and technology workforce development fields. Recruitment for the board is ongoing. Current members have begun to prioritize issues, topics and challenges affecting the development and sustainability of the regional program as well as provide strategic focus and leadership.
NPower CA offers the NPower core IT training program in San Mateo and advanced training programs in Alameda. Training is followed by paid internship placements and job placement assistance. Both programs are offered to veterans and veteran spouses free of charge.
