Mile of Music Announces First 50 Artists Slated to Appear at August Festival
Appleton, WI (PRWEB) April 26, 2017 -- Set to return for its milestone fifth year in August, Mile of Music held its signature “First 50” event last week to provide a sneak peek of the artist line-up and what’s in store for the festival.
Co-founders Dave Willems and Cory Chisel were on hand at OuterEdge Stage to announce 50 of the 225 performers – from solo artists and duos to full bands – who will appear August 3-6 in Appleton to play original, hand-crafted music at no charge to attendees. Of this first group, 30 artists are newcomers to the festival and 20 are returning fan favorites. A total of 20 states and two countries are represented on the map so far, with 175 more names to come. Some of the artists announced include:
• San Fermin – Brooklyn, N.Y.
• Ron Gallo – Nashville, Tenn.
• Cat Clyde – Ontario, Canada
• Octave Lissner – Paris, France
• LOLO – New York, N.Y.
• JC Brooks – Chicago, Ill.
• Wild Adriatic – Albany, N.Y.
“This festival has become a great platform for emerging artists from across the nation and beyond to share their unique music,” Willems said. “Our community is very excited to welcome a mix of new faces and returning favorites to Mile of Music this summer.”
Presented by Tundraland Home Improvements since 2015, the festival will feature up to 1,000 live sets during the four-day event at 70 different indoor and outdoor venues throughout Downtown and the riverfront.
The celebration of “Mile Week” will include several festival staples such as First Songs, the Mile of Music Bus, Performance Pop-Ups and Songs Before We Go. The Music Education Team from Lawrence University will be back to organize nearly 75 hands-on activities for attendees, ranging from world percussion demos to instrument workshops.
“Going into the fifth year of Mile of Music, we have really taken note of what the artists and attendees love most about this festival and tried to highlight those things,” Willems said.
New to the festival in 2017 is a collaboration between Chisel’s Refuge Foundation for the Arts and Oshkosh Corporation to present the charitable program, “Feed the Body, Feed the Soul.” A combination of live performances, musical guests, visual arts and special speakers will create unique experiences to raise money for arts in the community.
Mile of Music performances are free to attendees. Music-Makers Badges are available for a select number of exclusive shows and also provide other festival and year-around perks. The full schedule of artists is expected to be released in the coming weeks.
