Baja SAE California Set for April 27-30 in Gorman, Calif.
WARRENDALE, Pa. (PRWEB) April 26, 2017 -- SAE International’s Collegiate Design Competition, Baja SAE California, will get underway Thursday, April 27, and run through Sunday, April 30, at the Quail Canyon Special Events Area in Gorman, Calif.
Baja SAE® consists of competitions that simulate real-world engineering design projects and related challenges. Engineering students design and build a single-seat, off-road vehicle that can survive the punishment of rough terrain. The vehicle is to be a prototype for a reliable, maintainable, ergonomic, and economic production vehicle that serves a recreational market.
The competition provides SAE student members with a challenging project that involves the design, planning and manufacturing tasks found when introducing a new product to the consumer market. Teams compete to have their design accepted for manufacture by a fictitious firm.
Vehicles are powered by a 10-horsepower Intek Model 19 engine, donated by Briggs & Stratton Corp.
The teams will be required to perform a series of difficult tasks, including acceleration, hill climb, maneuverability, and suspension.
