(PRWEB) May 09, 2017 -- As the days grow longer and warmer, Bug Busters shares a forecast of what Americans can expect in terms of pests in each region of the country based on past and current weather patterns.
“In the spring we see our call volume rise, with customers looking for pest-control solutions as temperatures increase,” says Bug Busters COO Court Parker. “We’ve partnered with the National Pest Management Association to provide the regional information below into an attached infographic that shows which pests will prevail throughout different parts of the country.”
Southeast: This spring and summer, states hit with heavy rainfall may see mosquito populations earlier than in previous years. Rain will also provide ideal conditions for subterranean termites.
Northeast: The unseasonably warm winter could lead to higher tick populations while a cooler spring may drive occasional invaders, like earwigs, into homes in search of warmth. Heavy spring showers could also increase standing water, creating ideal conditions for mosquitos to thrive.
Midwest: Uncommonly warmer winter temperatures across the region included sporadic extreme weather including damaging winds, hail and heavy snowfall. An abnormally warm spring could give tick populations an early boost. Expect the drier spring and summer weather to increase ant activity around homes earlier into the season than previous years.
Southwest & West Coast: Warmer, wetter spring weather may lead to higher-than-normal flying pest populations, including mosquitos that will continue through summer months in the Southwest. Increased West Coast rainfall may drive cockroaches and other crawling pests into homes.
Pacific Northwest: Warmer, drier spring conditions may cause ant populations to be even higher than previous years, as they seek out water and food indoors.
