All Adolfson & Peterson Construction Employees to Participate in Safety Week 2017
Minneapolis, Minnesota (PRWEB) April 28, 2017 -- Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), one of the nation’s leading general contractors, will be joining more than 60 construction firms across the U.S. and Canada for Safety Week held May 1-5.
Safety Week is an annual industry-wide initiative organized by construction firms representing the Construction Industry Safety Initiative (CISI) and the Incident and Injury-Free (IIF) CEO Forum. These companies will join forces with one purpose: to inspire everyone in the industry to be leaders in safety. Statistics show that each year, more than 80,000 workers are injured on construction sites across the U.S.
Safety Week 2017 has been given the theme, “It’s in our hands.” Emphasizing the personal pride and responsibility workers feel for the work they do, and uniting them around this shared sense of responsibility for each other, the job site, and beyond office walls or work site fences to family and friends at home.
“Safety is not an exercise in the hypothetical or theoretical; it is very real due to the impact it has on our people,” said Jeff Hansen, CEO of AP. Our people are our culture and what distinguishes us from other firms. We better be taking care of our people and foster a culture of safety to provide for the long term success of AP. That is the reason we started our IIF journey over a year ago.”
The collective mission of Safety Week 2017 is to partner together in: thanking workers for supporting safety and recognizing efforts to be injury free; increasing awareness of the importance of being committed to safety every day; inspiring all participants to share best practices and work together in strengthening the industry’s safety culture; celebrating the need to be injury free; and conducting on-site safety awareness activities.
Safety Week activities will take place every day on all AP job sites coast to coast. Teams will conduct events such as equipment training sessions, crisis management drills and fall protection demonstrations. Specific safety topics will also be discussed throughout the week.
“AP is an advocate of Safety Week because it gives the construction industry the forum to showcase the importance of daily safety on the job site,” added Hansen. “AP empowers everyone, regardless of position, to act with authority when it comes to a safe work environment. This is a proactive approach to safety that will lead to improved productivity, quality of work, a respected reputation and better employee morale.”
