mySidewalk is a ‘one-stop shop’ for a lot of the data we use on a daily basis, such as health, safety and accessibility data. It saves a lot of time and resources and provides new ways of looking at the information.

Today, mySidewalk announced its partnership with the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council (ECFRPC), a regional agency of local governments serving seven counties in East Central Florida. The Council plans to use mySidewalk to enhance the services they provide to their partner agencies and communities.

“mySidewalk is a ‘one-stop shop’ for a lot of the data we use on a daily basis, such as health, safety and accessibility data. It saves a lot of time and resources and provides new ways of looking at the information,” said Tara McCue, director of planning and community development at ECFRPC. “We are excited that we can now provide this service to the organizations we work with.”

The Council works with jurisdictions across seven counties as well as other partners, such as the Department of Transportation (DOT), health departments and other agencies in the region. Currently, the Council is working with mySidewalk to provide partners with land use and community data—such as community walkability—so that the organizations they serve can use the information to bolster decision making surrounding corridor projects and economic development.

Many of the organizations that the Council partners with also need data in order to make cases for grants, budget approvals and other funding opportunities—and McCue is looking forward to providing partners with the data they need to secure that funding.

About ECFRPC
The East Central Florida Regional Planning Council was established in 1962 as an area-wide association of local governments serving the seven counties of Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia. Council staff provides technical assistance in the areas of land use and environmental planning, emergency preparedness, geographic information systems (GIS), health, housing, urban design, transportation and economic and fiscal analysis, among others. The 31 Council members represent the counties, the League of Cities in each county and gubernatorial appointees. The Council provides a forum where members and leaders can discuss complex regional issues and set regional goals and objectives.
