After a year of development, we are excited to announce two new backpacks -- The NOMATIC Backpack for everyday use and The NOMATIC Travel Pack for one-to-three day trips.

NOMATIC, which introduced the most-funded travel bag in Kickstarter history last summer to raise more than $1.7 million, today launched the NOMATIC Backpack and Travel Pack on Kickstarter.

Cousins Jacob Durham and Jon Richards are following up on the success of their NOMATIC Travel Bag, which had over 9,000 backers, by creating the most functional backpacks ever – made specifically for everyday use and travel.

“We surveyed our backers, getting thousands of responses when we asked what important features they’d like to see in a backpack, and we took those replies and went to work,” Durham said. “After a year of development, we are excited to announce two new backpacks -- The NOMATIC Backpack for everyday use and The NOMATIC Travel Pack for one-to-three day trips.”

The NOMATIC Backpack and Travel Pack look similar and share some incredible features. However, the back half of these bags were each designed specifically for their purpose – making the Backpack perfect for everyday use, and the Travel Pack perfect for trips of up to three days.

Both backpacks share the following features:

  • They are made with strong waterproof zippers and tarpoline material that will last forever.
  • A full parameter zipper gives access from all sides, and a full view of the inside for better visibility and packing.
  • The unique strap design allows users to switch between briefcase and backpack for when they need to look more professional or when they’re on the move.

Each bag has over 20 pockets, all designed with purpose – pockets include:

  • A quick-access fleece pocket for valuables
  • Multiple mesh elastic pockets
  • RFID Blocking and lockable security pocket
  • A removable hard protective shell for glasses
  • Multiple mesh zipper pockets
  • A Notebook pocket
  • A hidden pocket for important items like cash or passports

The NOMATIC Backpack is the perfect bag for everyday use. Everyone packs differently and the customizable Velcro panel allows them to make the bag fit their lifestyle. Each bag includes three options: the tech pocket, the paper organizer, and the shoe or clothing pocket. An expansion system takes the bag from 20 to 24 liters for extra room. The laptop compartment is safely surrounded by foam and is designed to hold a 15” laptop comfortably.

The NOMATIC Travel Pack is the perfect travel companion for one-to-three day trips, or for people who need to carry more every day. This bag includes a full perimeter expansion, increasing its volume from 20 to 30 liters. To help compartmentalize packing, this bag includes a mesh dividing wall and a built-in shoe or clothing compartment. The laptop and tablet compartment opens to lay flat and makes TSA Checkpoints a breeze. Each Travel Pack includes a compression packing cube to help you pack even more.

About NOMATIC
Originally named BASICS when founded in 2014 by cousins Jacob Durham and Jon Richards, the company launched its first project on Kickstarter – the BASICS wallet. After raising $171,000 for the product, the pair quit their day jobs and focused on developing travel and work-related products with innovative designs and functionality. The BASICS wallet was followed by the BASICS Notebook, which raised nearly $400,000 on Kickstarter. The company, based in Salt Lake City, changed its name to NOMATIC to be more reflective of the range of products it produces for the consumer market. In July 2016, the company introduced the NOMATIC Travel Bag, which became the most-funded travel bag in Kickstarter history by raising more than $1.7 million.
