RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association Applauds New Jersey for Expanding Fertility Coverage And Urges New York to Pass The Fair Access to Fertility Treatment Act
McLean, VA (PRWEB) May 02, 2017 -- RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association applauds New Jersey Governor Chris Christie for signing into law legislation to increase fertility coverage for New Jersey families. The new law expands the current infertility insurance law in New Jersey to now include single women and women in same-sex relationships. The law also reduces the waiting period for in vitro fertilization (IVF) coverage from two years to one year for women under age 35, and from one year to 6 months for women over 35, and requires the State Health Benefits Program and School Employees Health Benefit Plan to provide this expanded insurance coverage.
“RESOLVE applauds New Jersey for its inclusiveness in infertility coverage, and we call on New York to expand its coverage of infertility treatments,” said Barbara Collura, President/CEO, RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association. “We urge New York legislators to pass The Fair Access to Fertility Treatment Act (FAFTA), which would expand the current infertility insurance law in New York state to include insurance coverage of IVF, fertility preservation for cancer patients, and adds non-discrimination language to ensure that all eligible individuals can receive coverage.”
It is estimated that over 440,000 New Yorkers experience infertility.
