Yello Survey Becomes Guidebook to Millennial and Gen Z Hungry Recruiters
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 03, 2017 -- With graduation on the horizon, a new crop of talented millennials and their generation Z successors will be entering the workforce, yet recruiters have some work to do to attract this new generation to their company. Talent recruiting software company Yello, today announced the release of their second annual Yello Recruiting Study, which shows recruiters a path to attracting this new generation of top talent.
The new survey provides perspective on what millennials seek in a workplace as well as best practices for recruiting, hiring and retaining the youngest members of the working population, who, as a generational size, now surpass Baby Boomers by six percent, according to the Pew Research Center.
The research uncovered some notable findings, including:
Not all Millennials and Gen Z are job hoppers, in fact, most aren’t:
- 55 percent plan to stay at their current company for more than three years.
New grads aren’t all money-hungry:
Respondents are not factoring salary as heavily when deciding whether to accept a job.
- 48 percent value learning opportunities.
- 45 percent value career growth.
- 25 percent value salary.
The next working generation appreciate the utilization of tech tools during recruitment:
- 86 percent felt positively about text messages being used during the interview period.
- 76 percent felt positively about video interviewing.
- 26 percent have applied for positions via mobile device.
“Our new survey highlights the changing recruitment preferences and tendencies millennials and Gen Z have,” said Dan Bartfield, Co-Founder and President of Yello. “The most notable finding is the pervasiveness of this generation’s use of mobile, video and text. We expect this trend will only continue to increase in popularity. This survey is a guidebook for recruiters to ensure they have the knowledge and tools to hire the best Millennials and Gen Z talent.”
Yello officially released the survey during the 8th Annual 2017 Yello Conference on May 2-3. To download a full copy of the report, visit 2017 Yello Recruiting Survey.
Methodology
In February 2017, Yello surveyed 1,461 collegiate or recently post-collegiate students on their interviewing and hiring experiences. All individuals were either currently employed or had accepted full-time or internship offers. These participants entered the database as a result of a career fair they attended at a university or diversity career fair in the last 36 months.
