Whatley is an experienced family law attorney and will be the firm’s lead attorney on all family law matters including divorce, child custody, visitation, child support, alimony, equitable distribution of marital assets and debts, name changes, as well as separation and marital settlement agreements.
Whatley is a native South Carolinian and has been an active member of the South Carolina Bar since 2008. She graduated from College of Charleston with a B.A. in English in 2003 and earned her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2007. Whatley discovered her passion for family law while attending law school where she was both a law clerk in private domestic litigation practice as well as for the Office of the Governor of South Carolina Guardian ad Litem Program. Since becoming a member of the Bar, Whatley has worked in private practice in both Myrtle Beach and Conway, South Carolina. She has dedicated nearly all of her focus to family law and is extensively knowledgeable and experienced in mediation and litigation of divorce and child custody, visitation, and child support cases as well as in drafting comprehensive settlement agreements. She is also a certified Guardian ad Litem and is qualified to represent the best interest of parties’ children in child custody and visitation cases. Whatley has litigated family court cases in Horry, Georgetown, Dillon, Marlboro, and Williamsburg counties. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar, the Horry County Bar, the Georgetown County Bar, and the Coastal Women’s Law Association. In 2015, Whatley was also awarded the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell Client Distinction Award for providing exceptional representation to her clients.
