List Represents Forward-Thinking Leaders in the Nation’s School Districts

Through technology, research and leadership they have established model approaches for educators, administrators and school districts across the country

Edgenuity, a leading provider of online and blended learning, today announced that multiple customer school districts have been named to Digital Promise’s prestigious League of Innovative Schools. The League connects and represents the most forward-thinking leaders among the nation’s school districts with a focus on advancing positive change in public education.

Edgenuity customer school districts inducted into the League of Innovative Schools include the following:

  •          Bristol Warren Regional School District (Rhode Island)
  •          Compton Unified School District (California)
  •          Fox Chapel Area School District (Pennsylvania)
  •          Lindsay Unified School District (California)
  •          Seminole County Public Schools (Florida)

These districts were selected for the League based on a peer-reviewed assessment of their vision and key achievements, potential for impacting student learning and educational leadership, and commitment to networking and knowledge sharing. League members represent more than 3.3 million students in 86 districts and 33 states, and their experiences reflect the diversity and shared challenges of public education in America.

“Each of these districts has been recognized for innovating ways students can improve performance in the classrooms and making concrete progress toward improving each students’ ability to succeed academically,” said Sari Factor, CEO of Edgenuity. “Through technology, research and leadership they have established model approaches for educators, administrators and school districts across the country.”

Bristol-Warren Regional School District in Rhode Island offers one example of the newly selected League members’ innovative programs. The district serves approximately 3,300 students across four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. In addition to forming digital learning teams to promote successful technology implementation, the district established a multi-year professional development initiative focused on assessment literacy, which is showing a positive impact on student learning. As teachers learn, they bring new ideas back to their colleagues and promote school-wide approaches, such as establishing clear learning targets and success criteria, showing examples of strong and weak work, and providing explicit and timely feedback to students based on the criteria for success. These formative assessment practices provide teachers with the information needed to differentiate and personalize learning.

Districts selected for The League of Innovative Schools pioneer innovative learning and leadership practices that lead to improved outcomes for students and help prepare them for lifelong learning. The League is working together to:

  •     Solve the challenges facing K-12 schools through powerful and smart use of learning technologies
  •     Use their collective voice to advance positive change in public education
  •     Partner with entrepreneurs, researchers, and leading education thinkers and serve as a test-bed for new approaches to teaching and learning
