Industry experts offer strategies for success at your next trade show.

After a successful experience at the Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association’s (PRSM) 2017 National Conference earlier this year, MaintenX International is offering tips on how to have a effective trade show.

“Having your company exhibit at a trade show or expo hall is a great way to increase your brand’s visibility in the industry,” said Bill Schaphorst, VP of Business Development at MaintenX. “But in order to get the most out of this opportunity, you’ll want to make sure your brand stands out among the rest. Often at large conventions, vendors can greatly outnumber attendees. This means you’ll have to give attendees a reason to stop by your booth.”

Below are some of top tips and strategies for a successful trade show so you can network, build your brand and gain new clients.

1.    First Impressions are Key
A strong first impression of your brand can turn a potential client into a valued customer. Making sure your booth is inviting, your staff members are smiling and your company’s mission is proudly displayed in your exhibit will ensure people stop by to see what your business is all about.

2.    Interact with Guests
When at a tradeshow, be sure to bring your best professionals out on the floor. For trade show success, you want staff members who are great with people and are eager to interact with each person who stops by. When visitors walk by your booth and see other people engaged with your brand, they’ll be inclined to see what the buzz is all about.

3.    Promotional Giveaways
Promotional gift items and freebies are a great way to help get your name out there. A top tip is to make your logo easily visible to extend your brand’s reach. Useful items that relate to your company are also a strong strategy when trying to promote your business.

4.    Stand out in the Crowd
To get the most traffic at your booth, it’s important for your company to stand out. When visitors are walking among the aisles of these expo halls, they are going to see a lot of different companies that the same services as you. The logos, mottos and sayings will seem similar, so it’s important to have an interesting booth that draws folks in. It’s also crucial to clearly identify what you do.

5.    Be active in social media
Before, during and after the tradeshow, attendees are active on social media. This gives you an opportunity to connect with potential clients or reconnect with those you met at the show. Engage with visitors by posting photos of your booth, team members, tradeshow events and attendees. Then, invite them to connect with you both socially and in person, or request a follow up appointment or quote.
