Grants Managers Network Becomes PEAK Grantmaking, Sets Sights on More Effective Philanthropy
(PRWEB) May 09, 2017 -- PEAK Grantmaking, formerly Grants Managers Network, has unveiled a new name and visual identity that reflects a bold new plan to help philanthropic organizations better achieve their missions through more effective grantmaking practices.
PEAK Grantmaking fosters collaboration, provides training, and develops resources that enable its members to make grants that efficiently realize their institutions’ goals. While continuing to deliver those valuable services, PEAK Grantmaking now also will take more ambitious steps to ensure that grantmaking practices maximize philanthropy’s ability to improve people’s lives and that grantmaking professionals are recognized for their leadership in meeting philanthropy’s goals. The foremost association for grantmaking professionals, this year PEAK Grantmaking marks its 25th anniversary of working to transform transforming countless lives, communities, and ecosystems.
“Today’s grantmaking professionals are not only responsible for the grants requirements, process, and workflow, but they also are involved in organization-wide issues ranging from strategy and partnerships to communications, grantee relationships, and knowledge management,” said Michelle Greanias, Executive Director of PEAK Grantmaking. “Our name change better conveys the impact of this profession.”
The new name and visual identity also reinforces PEAK Grantmaking’s efforts over the next three years to instill greater consistency in grantmaking across the philanthropic sector, to prioritize grant outcomes over administration, and to reduce costs for both grantmaking institutions and grantseekers. Similarly, the name PEAK Grantmaking emphasizes the organization’s work to elevate the expertise of its 3,600 members, so they can implement superior grantmaking practices.
“We’re building on who we are and what we do,” said Christopher Percopo, co-chair of PEAK Grantmaking’s Board of Directors and Director of Grants Management and Special Program Operations at The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. “We want to ensure peak performance from every grant our members execute.”
PEAK Grantmaking’s research shows that the clear majority (90 percent) of leaders and staff in grantmaking institutions believe how grants get made affects their ultimate success. However, fewer than 50 percent of respondents in the same survey say their leaders “often” demonstrate behaviors that value grantmaking practices.
“PEAK Grantmaking has set its sights on advancing the strategic value of grants management, as we raise grantmaking to new heights. These are exciting times for PEAK Grantmaking,” says Marc McDonald, co-chair of PEAK Grantmaking’s Board of Directors and Vice President of Grants & External Initiatives at the AARP Foundation.
