Epicor’s New Strategic Move Means Changes on the Horizon for Customers
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) May 10, 2017 -- EpiCenter, a leading authorized partner of Epicor Software that blends its manufacturing history with Epicor software expertise to empower clients to compete at top levels, announced today its intent to help customers successfully upgrade their Epicor systems.
In a new step for Epicor, which never sunsets software—making it obsolete as other software manufacturers often do—the company has decided to strongly encourage customers to upgrade from their legacy software. Supporting old software is a large cost for Epicor, so it has decided to invest in tools that make it as easy as possible for their customers to upgrade. But for those clients who struggle in the process, EpiCenter is there to help.
“If you’re on Windows 2003 Server using Epicor 8, that’s a very old product at this point,” says EpiCenter President Jeff Glaze. “You’re running a 15-year-old product and are more susceptible to hacks. Epicor doesn’t sunset products like Microsoft does, so you can run old Epicor on Microsoft 2003 and it may work, but it may not be offering all that it can to your business. Epicor is going to make it easier to upgrade, giving customer tools, but if a client is in a heavily modified database, they’ll need our help.”
To that end, EpiCenter is offering testing “sandboxes” for customers thinking about upgrading. They’ll also provide brief instruction on navigation, basic functionality, and a tour of the new toolset. For more information about upgrading, click here.
