HealthSmart, the nation’s largest independent healthcare benefits administrator, is pleased to announce the appointment of Les McPhearson as Chief Client Care Officer. In this role, McPhearson will be responsible for all aspects of HealthSmart’s client and broker services, and will report directly to Bill Wallace, HealthSmart’s Executive Vice President.
McPhearson brings to HealthSmart an extensive background in healthcare benefit product development, consumer engagement, health and wellness as well as emerging healthcare technologies. He is also a nationally recognized speaker on healthcare trends and healthcare innovation.
Most recently, McPhearson was the CEO of United Benefit Advisors (UBA), where he was responsible for financial performance, operations, marketing, partner firm recruitment, compliance and strategic alliances. Previously, McPhearson held senior leadership roles at Trustmark Corporation, Florida Blue and Humana. He has also served as a Board Member of the Northern Illinois Association of Health Underwriters.

McPhearson received his B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Samford University, his M.B.A. from the University of Louisville and served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Trained Surface Warfare Officer.
