US Air Force Chief of Staff to Lead Forum Directly from Pentagon to Investment Industry

New York, New York (PRWEB) May 12, 2017 -- In celebration of the New York Society of Security Analysts’ (NYSSA) 80th birthday—and as part of its Diversity and Inclusion Initiative—we are thrilled to announce that U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff General David Goldfien will join us at our Fireside Chat event (https://www.nyssa.org/event/save-the-date-fireside-chat-an-evening-with-the-chief-of-staff-of-the-u-s-air-force/). This rare public engagement opportunity, delivered directly from the Pentagon to the investment industry, will take place the evening of Wednesday, May 31st at NYSSA headquarters in New York City. With a $166 billion budget under his command, General Goldfein, the highest-ranking member of the U.S. Air Force, will share his insights into how an increased commitment to defense spending by the White House will impact the investment industry, as well as both the domestic and global economy at large.

The first event of its kind, this idea was developed by NYSSA’s Veterans roundtable, a special interested group established in 2015 to create and offer military public outreach initiatives to the investing public and assist with veterans transitioning to a career in finance. Lance Widner, CFA, Chair of the Veterans Roundtable had this to say of the upcoming event:

“Our team had a connection with the Air Force Public Affairs Office here in New York City. When we found out the Chief of Staff was going to be visiting from Washington, D.C., we pitched the idea that—due to the reputation of NYSSA on Wall Street and the society’s neutral status as a non-profit organization—optically it would make the most sense to use our space as a venue. Possessing no specific ties to any individual finance firm was a crucial factor, as it’s important that the military avoid any appearance of corporate favoritism or business relationships that may potentially raise questions.

“Coupled with the idea that this is the perfect opportunity to share his knowledge, and from the very highest levels of the Pentagon at a time when more eyes than ever are looking at how our government spends taxpayer dollars as part of their increasing interest in public outreach, they ultimately accepted our offer. We are thrilled that both General Goldfein and NYSSA saw the value and agreed to this event.”
