SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA (PRWEB) May 17, 2017 -- USDM Life Sciences, the leading risk management, technological innovation and business process optimization firm for the life sciences and healthcare industries, is honored that Jay Crowley was selected as the Chairman of the UDIs and Traceability for Medical Devices conference in Brussels, Belgium.
Crowley played a crucial role in the development of the UDI (Unique Device Identification) requirement for medical devices distributed in the United States. As Senior Advisor for Patient Safety in the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health, he authored the UDI Final Rule.
For the last 3 ½ years, Crowley has helped medical device manufacturers with the challenges of UDI compliance in his role as the Vice President of UDI Services and Solutions at USDM Life Sciences.
“I am looking forward to facilitating some critical global UDI discussions and sharing my experiences with UDI requirements in the United States,” said Crowley. “This event comes at a critical time for the medical device industry as more countries around the world begin to implement UDI regulations.”
The European Union’s Medical Devices Regulation (MDR) and In vitro Diagnostic Devices Regulation (IVDR) were published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 5 May 2017 – and are effective 26 May 2017. Therefore, the data of application of the MDR is 26 May 2020 – and the IVDR is 26 May 2022. Work needs to begin immediately in order for device manufacturers to meet the deadlines.
Meet USDM’s Global UDI Services and Solutions team at our booth at the event. It’s a chance to learn how the team can help your company with UDI regulations and answer your UDI compliance questions.
The UDIs and Traceability for Medical Devices conference is May 16 – 18 in Brussels, Belgium at Husa President Park.
