Matt Lacoe’s New Book “You Won Your Race” Is A Tool For Parents To Educate Their Children On Sex Education In A Meaningful, Caring And Adaptive Way
(PRWEB) May 19, 2017 -- Matt LaCoe, a U.S. Army Veteran with three special needs children, has completed his new book “You Won Your Race”: an educational tool for parents faced with the troubles of trying to educate their own children on sexual activity.
According to LaCoe, “As a father of three boys, (I) realized the importance of early sex education as a preventative measure to child pregnancy. The realization of this was made clear when (I) tried to explain a very adult topic to (my) own children while deployed to combat in Iraq. After (my) children understood (my) explanation of sex education, (I) felt that this could be a way to assist other parents faced with the troubles of trying to educate their own children on this topic. After a tremendous amount of coaxing by both (my) wife and family, (I) chose to write this book as a tool for other parents to use. It is (my) hope and the hope of (my) family that this book will find its way to those who need it most.”
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Matt LaCoe’s instructional guide on sex education provides parents an opportunity to bond with their children over a simplified version of a complex topic.
LaCoe realizes society has gone through several significant changes in the last fifty years. With these changes come new challenges, and parents must find a way to address them all in their own right. LaCoe learned of three eleven-year-old girls in his son’s school who all tested positive for pregnancy and one of his children came home talking about things that were way outside of his age category. LaCoe and his wife decided that it was best to educate their children with the truth, rather than allowing them to be educated by their peers. “You Won Your Race” is the explanation LaCoe gave his children at that time. It has served very well for his children and some other parents who he has helped in talking to their children.
The topic is mature, but is fashioned in a way that children can understand it clearly. The verbiage and terminology are also mature. Some readers may find the idea of speaking to children about this topic alarming, but if parents don’t teach their children, someone else will. The best way to avoid tragedy and heartache is through education, as such, LaCoe offers this tool. If children learn their parents are open and approachable about their challenges in life, then when real problems come their way, they will seek their parents’ advice first.
