Purchase of Cupcake Jones Delivers Sweet New Era
PORTLAND, Ore. (PRWEB) May 23, 2017 -- Lisa Watson and Peter Shanky, co-owners and co-founders of Cupcake Jones LLC., have announced today that they have agreed to sell Cupcake Jones to Melissa Jespersen. Watson will stay on to assist with the transfer of ownership through mid-June 2017. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Jespersen has multiple years of restaurant management and is currently working in the media industry.
Over the past ten years, Cupcake Jones weathered the highs and lows of the local economy thanks to the many years of support by the Portland community. “There are just no words to explain how grateful we are to everyone who has supported our family owned business all these years,” says Lisa Watson. “Our philosophy has always been to take care of the community that takes care of us in the most delicious, sustainable way possible.”
Melissa Jespersen is determined to continue the legacy of Cupcake Jones. “The staff is staying on, recipes, operations and exceptional service are remaining the same, and our talented management team is in place and staying on!” Melissa exclaims. Watson is confident that the sale of Cupcake Jones is the best path to provide the company with the necessary resources to continue to scale the business as it enters its next phase of growth.
Melissa's youth, vibrancy, energy, and passion will infuse new life into an already healthy business, poised for the next level. As a leader with strong management skills, Lisa is using her own sage advice to manage herself up and out of the business, allowing for new perspectives and ideas to take root. “I’m excited for this evolution of Cupcake Jones as a business,” explains Watson. “My on-going commitment to the company and the team extends to a proactive vision of its future. I believe that a company can outgrow its owner, which is a real sign of progress.”
Watson plans on a much-deserved sabbatical, but only after ensuring that the new owner, employees, and the business itself has been fully taken care of. Through a proactive transition plan, Watson is fostering a whole new level of success, innovation, and advancement for Cupcake Jones. “Cupcake Jones will always partner with multiple non-profit organizations, donate to charitable auctions & fundraisers, and practice sustainable business operations,” says Melissa. “My core values are the same as Cupcake Jones - to maintain staff growth, longevity, education, and development as part of our ongoing responsibility.”
