Ancient and Epic Tales Recognized with Prestigious Anne Izard Storytellers’ Choice Award
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) June 01, 2017 -- August House is pleased to announce that Ancient and Epic Tales from Around the World has received a Anne Izard Storytellers’ Choice Award. This unique multicultural anthology presents pivotal episodes from epic tales like Gilgamesh, Beowulf, the Odyssey, and the Ramayana. In addition to the Annie Izard Award, Ancient and Epic Tales from Around the World has also received a Parents’ Choice Award Recommendation, a Storytelling World Award and is a finalist in the ForeWord Reviews Annual Indies Book of the Year Awards for Children’s Books that will be announced June 24th at the American Library Association Conference in Chicago.
This award-winning anthology of stories from the world’s great oral traditions is the third and final installment in her Tales from Around the World trilogy. The previous two books in the series, Wonder Tales from Around the World and Wisdom Tales from Around the World both won the Storytelling World Award and the PLAPLA/ALLS Best New Books award.
Heather lives on Long Island in Huntington, New York and frequently collaborates with the award-winning illustrator, Susan Gaber. Together, this creative team has published five award-winning LittleFolk picture books with August House.
The Anne Izard Storytellers' Choice Award was established in 1990 by librarians, storytellers and educators in Westchester County, New York, to honor Anne Izard, an extraordinary librarian, storyteller, and Children's Services Consultant in the Westchester County Library System. The award seeks to bring the riches of storytelling to greater public awareness by highlighting and promoting distinguished books on storytelling published for children and adults. Books considered for the award were original material, reprints, or new English translations published in the United States between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2016.
