The Tennessee River Valley has something for everyone.
Knoxville, TN (PRWEB) June 22, 2017
The American Frontier was explored and settled by early pioneers who hiked along the ridges and waterways of the Tennessee River Valley. This first frontier has been explored by locals and the "best of the region" is curated in an online mapguide available to visitors who seek to immerse themselves in local culture, adventure, and want to "go where the locals go."
Sally, a local contributor to the Tennessee River Valley Mapguide, offers three of her favorite romantic walks in one of Tennessee’s most beautiful river landscapes offering secluded woodlands, spectacular waterfalls and glimpses of wildlife along the river. "Some of the best locations can be found in the valley falls within the Cumberland Trail, an ambitious project that will eventually encompass 300 miles of hiking trail stretching from Cumberland Gap National Historical Park to the north right down to Signal Mountain near Chattanooga."
Hikers looking to create an air of awesome breathlessness, then the spectacular Triple Falls Trail, taking in Bruce Creek Falls as its centerpiece, could be the one for you. Although it is rated “moderately difficult,” it is only 2.2 miles long. Plenty of time to stop, admire the view and spend a little time together. The trail follows a picturesque creek, where there are plenty of spots to stop for a secluded picnic, before an uphill climb with spectacular views across the waterfalls at the end.
Osceola Island and the Weir Dam is a beautiful place to enjoy a gentle stroll and a picnic, surrounded by beautiful scenery. The island is reached via a metal footbridge that leads across from the main recreation area, which contains several picnic tables and grills, Osceola is only a mile from the South Holston Dam and well worth a visit, Popular with families and children, it may not offer a romantic afternoon to yourselves!
