“As a member of the James Scott Farrin team, I can attest to the level of compassion that is shown by our staff, both in volunteering time and energy to a variety of charitable events and in making charitable contributions," said Attorney Tara Williams.

The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, with 14 offices throughout North Carolina, hosted a book drive for Book Harvest of the Triangle. Farrin personal injury attorneys, Tara Williams and LaDonna Williams, coordinated the book drive and collected over 450 children’s books.
To kick off the drive, the law firm bought 10 books written by Farrin workers’ compensation attorney Ryan Bliss. Bliss is a published children’s book author and has been writing and illustrating children’s books for eight years. Eight of his books went directly to the book drive, while two were raffled off with proceeds collected that went to Book Harvest of the Triangle. The firm celebrated the drive’s success with a special event and refreshments at the law firm’s Durham headquarters at the American Tobacco Campus.
The primary purpose of the book drive is to help give every child an equal opportunity to be successful in school even if they don’t have the means to buy books.
Attorney and firm shareholder, Tara Williams, who is the firm’s Social Services chair said, “As a member of the James Scott Farrin team, I can attest to the level of compassion that is shown by our staff, both in volunteering time and energy to a variety of charitable events and in making charitable contributions. Even in their personal time, many of our employees participate in a multitude of community service events. Here at James Scott Farrin we are committed to supporting our community and helping to advocate in many ways.”
Community service is not a new concept for the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin. Williams explained that many of the attorneys and employees are committed to volunteering to enhance the quality of life for children and adults through participating in events like the book drive as well as dozens of others, including the firm’s food drive for Harvest for Hunger, which they have coordinated annually in conjunction with the North Carolina Advocates for Justice.
Attorney LaDonna Williams said, “So many of our employees are community minded and many have expressed an interest in wanting to contribute to a growing society of children who have an opportunity to become better educated through books. With the help of book donations, every child will have more opportunity to reach their full literacy and educational potential.”
Book Harvest is a non-profit organization that provides books to needy Triangle children in an effort to support a habit of lifelong literacy and academic success that begins in childhood. In 2015, Book Harvest helped over 16,000 children by harvesting 81,220 books from 47 community book bank locations. With each book donation, Book Harvest continues to carry out its mission of fueling a lifelong love of reading among America’s children that will enable success in school and in life.
