Examity®, the world leader in online proctoring and identity verification, today announced that Founder and CEO Michael London will join edX CEO Anant Agarwal and leaders from a cross-section of higher education institutions at the Open edX conference in Madrid this week. At the event, London will deliver remarks focused on the critical importance of security and authentication amid rapid, global expansion of online learning.

In the last decade, adoption of online learning has skyrocketed in the United States and around the world: one in four American students now takes at least one course online. Members of the European Association for Distance Teaching Universities now reach 3 million students in 25 European countries. This rapid growth has led to an increased focus on both the quality and integrity of online higher education programs. To help colleges and universities address this need, Examity has developed a suite of proctoring and authentication tools designed to make online assessment more efficient, convenient, and secure.

“For a growing number of students around the world, online learning holds the potential to enable unprecedented access to learning opportunities and, ultimately, pathways to workforce-relevant credentials,” said Michael London, President and CEO of Examity. “In order to ensure that these students are recognized for their achievements, it is critical to ensure the validity and reliability of online assessments. We are honored to join the Open edX community in Madrid to share the lessons we’ve learned about the importance of quality and integrity, and to hear from pioneers and innovators charting a new course for online learning.”

The Open edX Conference is the annual meeting of the global Open edX community, an initiative of edX founding partners Harvard and MIT. The conference brings together leaders from colleges and universities, digital courseware providers, nonprofit organizations, and other stakeholders to surface new insights and innovative strategies in online learning and instructional design.

Examity works with a cross-section of public and private institutions around the world, including University of Sydney, Emylon Business School, and Yale University, to implement an industry-leading, round-the-clock proctoring and identity verification platform that can be adapted to meet the needs of individual schools and online education providers.
