Sibley Memorial Hospital to undergo extensive renovations to prepare for future development

We are excited to work with Sibley to create a facility that will allow for future development of their campus and meet the growing healthcare needs of the Washington, D.C. metro area.

A leader in healthcare construction with more than 12 million square-feet of healthcare facilities built globally in the last five years alone, Gilbane has been selected to provide construction management at-risk services for the Sibley Memorial Hospital Existing Tower Building (ETB) Renovation project. Sibley Memorial Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine, has been serving the Washington, D.C. area since 1890. With Sibley’s new patient tower officially open since September, 2016, the Sibley campus will continue its redevelopment with the ETB renovation.

The current scope of the project includes significant infrastructure upgrades throughout the building, elevator modernizations, and renovations to create warm lit shell space to allow for Sibley’s future programming needs. Gilbane will use its newly formed National Healthcare Alliance to share best practices, cutting-edge trends and first-hand experiences with Sibley throughout the renovation of their existing facility. Construction at Sibley is scheduled to start this summer with completion scheduled for late 2018.

“The Sibley Existing Tower Building Renovation project is a great compliment to our robust portfolio of healthcare projects in the Mid-Atlantic,” said Paul Choquette III, Senior Vice President of Gilbane’s Mid-Atlantic Division and member of the fifth generation of the Gilbane family. “Our Mid-Atlantic healthcare practice continues to grow through our client-focused commitment and increased investment in the healthcare market.
