Epic Litho, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier UV printer for luxury brands, is acquired by The Standard Group

Epic Litho represents the pinnacle of print quality in our industry. They have consistently won the Neographics’ Power of Print or Best of Show time and time again. We look forward to incorporating their talented staff into our own.

The Standard Group, an enterprise print management and marketing logistics company with locations in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania, is further expanding into key markets through the acquisition of Epic Litho, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier UV printer for luxury brands. As of May 2017, The Standard Group has acquired the sales and select assets of Epic Litho, located in Phoenixville, PA.

Two of the biggest names in commercial printing in Pennsylvania have now come together. Both of these companies have the highest reputations for print excellence. Combined, The Standard Group and Epic Litho received a total of 37 awards (or 29 percent of total awards) at the 2017 Neographics Power of Print Awards Exhibition, including 22 Best of Category Awards and 2 candidates for the Best of Show.

Epic Litho is one of the most experimental and creative printers in the Mid-Atlantic region and is known for pushing the proverbial envelope with print and special effects to convey and best enhance the customer’s design vision. “It takes experience, knowledge and a little fearlessness to try something which has never been done in printing,” states Jim Rowland, President of Epic Litho. “We love partnering with our customers to create that unique look in their print communication.”

With the acquisition of Epic Litho, The Standard Group increases its printing ability to support luxury brands, commercial real estate, higher education, art galleries and auction houses. Through Epic Litho, The Standard Group will soon house a recently purchased 8-color H-UV Komori perfecting offset printing press.

“We are very excited to bring on this high definition UV printing technology to our clients," says Scott Reighard, COO of The Standard Group. “UV printing is really a game changer in our industry. With UV printing, we will be able to print with greater color intensity, better efficiency due to no drying time and greater versatility since no coating is required. Plus, UV printing will be fantastic for printing on uncoated stock and plastics substrates—it will allow us to better serve the higher education and art gallery markets.” Reighard continues, “We also hope to gain greater print performance and volume due to the press’ perfecting capability, by printing on both sides of the paper with one pass.”

Through Epic Litho, The Standard Group is looking to further extend its sustainability footprint to provide print which is safer and has less impact on the environment. The H-UV press does not discharge ozone, and UV inks do not contain solvents which evaporate and release harmful volatile organic compounds, or VOCs.

With Epic Litho, The Standard Group anticipates increasing its presence in both the New York City and Philadelphia metro markets. For the last decade, The Standard Group has grown organically and strategically through acquisition. However, this latest acquisition of Epic Litho stands as the most far-reaching opportunity for The Standard Group. “Epic Litho represents the pinnacle of print quality in our industry," states Scott Vaughn, CEO of The Standard Group. "They have consistently won the Neographics’ Power of Print or Best of Show time and time again. We look forward to incorporating their talented staff into our own."

"At Epic Litho, our customers have been asking for more enterprise print and integrated solutions," mentions Rowland. “By joining with The Standard Group, we will be able to provide our customers with more resources, more expertise and more innovations to help grow their business."

Rowland continues, "We are ecstatic to be acquired by The Standard Group. Their family-oriented values and culture are a perfect match for our hardworking employees." Rowland will join The Standard Group as part of the executive team and will be tasked with making the company more customer-centric.
