LabKey Announces Newest Member of Panorama Partners Program
SEATTLE, WA (PRWEB) June 01, 2017 -- LabKey is pleased to announce that the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) has become the newest member of the Panorama Partners Program, a collaboration of proteomics focused organizations organized by LabKey and the MacCoss Lab at the University of Washington. The program is designed to help fund and direct the development of the open source proteomic data management tool, Panorama. CPTAC’s participation builds on the group’s previous significant contributions to repeatable and reliable assay development involving the dissemination of proteomic-based targeted mass spectrometry (MS) assays (CPTAC Assay Portal).
The CPTAC Assay Portal (https://assays.cancer.gov) enables query of a database of well-characterized, targeted MS-based assays. The assay database is tied to Panorama, allowing for efficient collection and sharing of proteomics data in a vendor-neutral format, facilitating upload and viewing of assay characterization data, and download of Skyline documents for implementing the assays.
Panorama is a LabKey Server module that integrates directly with Skyline, a popular desktop targeted mass spec analysis application. The application assists with the aggregation, curation, and secure sharing of targeted proteomics results, and also allows research teams to search and review a large collection of previous experiments to help guide the creation of new experiments. Teams can install Panorama in-house or they can request their own free project on PanoramaWeb, a public server hosted by the MacCoss Lab at the University of Washington.
CPTAC utilizes PanoramaWeb as the data repository for the CPTAC Assay Portal, a public resource of “fit-for-purpose,” multiplexed quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomic targeted assays generated by the group’s Proteome Characterization Centers (PCCs). Data is securely transferred from PanoramaWeb to the CPTAC Assay Portal via a Proteomics Data Coordinating Center. The portal is maintained and extended by ESAC, Inc, the prime contractor to NCI providing the data coordinating center for the project, with a goal of facilitating the rapid data upload from secure data generators, and subsequent distribution to the cancer research community.
As a member of the Panorama Partners Program, CPTAC will join leading pharma companies in helping guide the development of Panorama functionality, reviewing development road maps, and providing feedback on newly developed features. Membership also helps fund development work and ensure the stability of the platform for the greater proteomics community.
The NCI CPTAC contribution to the Panorama Partners Program is made under National Institutes of Health Contract No. HHSN261201600026C to ESAC, Inc. (Rockville, MD).
