Lyman Orchards Kicks Off Pick Your Own Season with Annual Strawberry Fest
MIDDLEFIELD, CT (PRWEB) June 07, 2017 -- Early summer is the time to enjoy the freshest fruits from the fields at Lyman Orchards. And the first fruit of the new season, strawberries, will be available for Pick Your Own (PYO) beginning in early June. From strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and peaches to apples, pears and pumpkins, Lyman Orchards is the sweetest summer spot to visit.
Blooming strawberries are the first sign that summer has arrived, and these fresh fruits are available in a full range of delicious varieties from tart to sweet and medium to large.
Lyman Orchards offers seven different varieties of strawberries. Strawberries are a delicious source of potassium and Vitamin C, and one cup of berries has only 55 calories.
“Lyman Orchards literally comes alive during the early summer season with sweet, healthful strawberries ripe for the picking. And strawberries are only the beginning of the bounty our orchards yield,” said John Lyman III, Lyman Orchards’ Executive Vice President. “And we invite everyone who’s looking for some fun family-friendly activity to come out to the farm this season.”
Pick Your Own is open every day once the season begins, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (weather permitting). Please dress appropriately for outdoor activity and remember to bring sunscreen and a hat. Call Lyman's PYO hotline for up-to-date information, at (860) 349-6015, or visit http://www.lymanorchards.com/orchard/ for updates as well.
On Saturday, June 17, come out and enjoy Lyman Orchards’ annual Strawberry Fest, a celebration of summer’s first, sweet fruit! Strawberry Fest includes activities for kids of all ages. There will be breakfast, lunch, and live music (Goldrush), all on the scenic deck; face-painting; pony rides, kettle corn, a pie eating contest and more!
