"Giving back to those in need is engrained in the CareOne culture," commented Elizabeth Straus, Executive Vice President of CareOne.
Fort Lee, NJ (PRWEB) June 05, 2017
CareOne, a premier family-owned healthcare company with more than 29 facilities throughout New Jersey, announced that Make-A-Wish New Jersey has named the company, along with its CEO, Daniel E. Straus, and its Executive Vice President, Elizabeth Straus, as the recipients of the charity’s 2017 Corporation of the Year and Humanitarian of the Year awards. CareOne and its executive leadership will be honored at the Make-A-Wish New Jersey Gala on June 8th at the Samuel & Josephine Plumeri Wishing Place in Monroe Township, New Jersey.
CareOne’s CEO Daniel Straus and Executive Vice President Elizabeth Straus will be celebrated as the joint recipients of the Make-A-Wish New Jersey 2017 Humanitarian of the Year award as a result of CareOne’s 200 Wishes fundraiser that took place at the Prudential Center in February 2017. Through their hard work, diligence and commitment to Make-A-Wish New Jersey, the Strauses and CareOne raised $1.3 million in support of the children’s charity at the 200 Wishes event and helped grant a significant number of wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions throughout New Jersey.
"As we gather on the evening of June 8th to celebrate our powerful mission, we are excited to recognize Daniel Straus, Elizabeth Straus and the entire CareOne family as our honorees,” stated Tom Weatherall, President & Chief Executive Officer for Make-A-Wish New Jersey. “The Straus family and CareOne have distinguished themselves as leaders in the community, contributing to the quality of life in their patients and families. They have extended that commitment, through their charitable support, to the children and families who are served by Make-A-Wish New Jersey, and we are proud to be a part of this very special friendship."
Spearheaded by the Straus family and CareOne, the 200 Wishes Fundraiser attracted more than 1,000 attendees in February. The Prudential Center was transformed into a candy-land themed wonderland for the day and demonstrated CareOne's commitment to the power of caring, giving, and hope in helping to strengthen and empower children battling life-threatening medical conditions. The 200 Wishes event and the resulting commitment from CareOne represents the single largest corporate gift, $1.3 million, in the New Jersey chapter’s 34-year history. The average cost of a wish is $10,000.
The one-of-a-kind event was part of CareOne’s long-standing and ongoing commitment to charitable organizations. It included ice skating on the New Jersey Devils’ ice rink, carnival games and prizes, a Build-A-Bear Workshop experience, and special guest appearances by Olympic Medalist Nancy Kerrigan and other world-champion skaters, among many other special experiences and all-star guests for its attendees. Similar to the 200 Wishes event, CareOne selects a charitable organization to support every year, with past initiatives raising more than $5 million in funds for organizations including Superstorm Sandy relief efforts, Boston's One Fund, The Valerie Fund Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
“My father and I are so proud and humbled to receive this award. Giving back to those in need is engrained in the CareOne culture. Working with Make-A-Wish New Jersey to help raise funds to grant wishes for children facing life-threatening illnesses has been one of the most rewarding endeavors we have been involved with,” commented Elizabeth Straus, Executive Vice President of CareOne.
As New Jersey’s largest privately-owned, post-acute and long-term care provider, and one of the largest privately-owned health care companies in the United States, CareOne’s commitment to quality care is embodied by employees throughout the organization. The 2017 Make-A-Wish New Jersey Gala will honor this commitment on Thursday, June 8 at 6:00 p.m. at the Samuel & Josephine Plumeri Wishing Place, located at 1347 Perrineville Road in Monroe Township, NJ. The event will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction. The Humanitarian of the Year & Corporation of the Year award presentations recognizing Daniel Straus, Elizabeth Straus and CareOne will begin at 7:30 p.m. followed by a dinner and a live auction, and include a special performance from Max Weinberg of the E Street Band and Special Friends.
