Unique festivals and traditional events occurring around Tibet this summer

Tibet is one of the most distinctive parts of the world for people to visit. Great Tibet Tour is offering special trips out to many places around Tibet. The Nagchu Horse Racing Festival on August 8 includes many events and competitions between horse farms in the area. This includes song and dance performances as horses help to raise tents while their owners aim to create the best arrangements possible. This is a unique tradition that entails an elaborate display of artistic flair. This is held around the southern end of Nagqu.

The Tibet Shoton Festival is the fourth event to experience. Also known as the Yogurt Festival, this is held on August 21 and is a season where monks end their meditation seasons. Many yogurt-related events are held as well as numerous Tibetan dramatic operas. This is a time for reflective as well as a time for a true renewal of the land. This is a prominent event for family reunions and often includes various bonfires and parties during the evening hours.
