Matias Valenzuela, Commercial Manager at Lucsol Spa, Uniweld’s authorized distributor in Chile, undertook this project in conjunction with INACAP’s Alexis Bravo, Mechanical Career Director. INACAP is an Integrated System of Higher Education, which is made up by The Technological University of Chile INACAP, The Professional Institute INACAP and the Center For Training INACAP, which together, share the same values and institutional missions. They are represented in their 26 branches throughout 15 regions in Chile. INACAP is a private non profit organization. The Board of Directors is elected by the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC), the Private National Corporation for Social Development (CNPDS) and Technical Service Cooperation (Sercotec). The overall mission of INACAP is to train people with values and skills which will allow them to develop as responsible citizens and with autonomy be productive members of society. INACAP has over 120,000 students and more than 270,000 alumni (2016 data) which are developing Chile today, and well in to its’ future.
Present from U.S.A. manufacturing companies at the inauguration were Richard Apodaca, Director-International at Uniweld and Chuck Fuerstenau, V.P. at Lucas-Milhaupt. Also joining the American delegation was Miguel Harris, President of LAMCO. INACAP had various distinguished members present, among them, Monica Ferreira, Vice Rector South Santiago; Elena Rui-Wamba, Academic Director; Marcelo Diaz, Administration & Finance Director; Alexis Bravo, Mechanical Career Director; and Sergio Vargas, Workshop Director. Present from Lucsol were their Directors, Ramon Carrasco Pinto; Felipe Carrasco Catalan; Rodrigo Mariambo Catalan and Lucsol’s Commercial Manager, Matias Valenzuela Vilaza.
Uniweld is present at INACAP with 10 oxy/acetylene training stations set up with Uniweld’s RUHL series regulators, welding handles and brazing and welding tips. Lucas-Milhaupt’s 75 years of global brazing solutions provide another key and valued component to INACAP’s welding laboratory. It was the vision of Miguel Harris, President of LAMCO, whose passion and focus in bringing together such prestigious companies to educate and train, that created the synergy which resulted in the welding laboratory.
Both Uniweld and Lucas-Milhaupt are committed to providing ongoing training at the welding laboratory. Lucsol will work closely with key personnel at INACAP to schedule the training sessions at the welding laboratory with Uniweld and Lucas-Milhaupt. The future is bright for aspiring brazers and welders as well as for the experienced technicians that wish to improve their trade. The INACAP welding laboratory…it is just getting started!
