Global Seafood Sustainability Conference to be Held in Barcelona in 2018
Portland, ME (PRWEB) June 07, 2017 -- The 2018 SeaWeb Seafood Summit, the world’s premier seafood sustainability conference, will take place June 18-20, 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. The annual Summit, produced jointly by SeaWeb and Diversified Communications, brings together global representatives from the seafood industry, the conservation community, academia, government, and the media. It travels to a new location each year, with prior editions held in Seattle, Malta, and New Orleans. Barcelona, a seaport proudly and publicly committed to its own sustainability, will be the first European host city the Summit returns to for an encore (the 2008 event was held there as well).
Since 2002, SeaWeb Seafood Summit has connected global stakeholders of sustainable seafood and given them a forum for productive in-person dialogue, partnerships, and solutions. The 2017 event, held in Seattle, brought in more than 560 attendees representing 36 countries. While conversations sparked there, they will no doubt continue throughout the year, and the 2018 edition of the Summit will reopen them in person, in a new time and place, with stakeholders freed from day-to-day distractions and focused on finding collaborative solutions.
This will all happen in the context of an information-rich educational program on the latest seafood policies, practices, and trends. The program will offer a mix of keynote, daily plenary presentations, and interactive breakout discussions on topics ranging from traceability and transparency to business and management, aquaculture, and IUU/FIPS. Sessions are buffered by networking and refreshment breaks, allowing attendees to connect with each other.
SeaWeb Seafood Summit is also home to The Seafood Champion Awards, a program that recognizes individuals and companies on the front lines of a more sustainable seafood industry. Each year, an honoree is chosen in each of four categories: Leadership, Innovation, Vision, and Advocacy.
Online registration for the 2018 SeaWeb Seafood Summit in Barcelona, Spain will open in the fall of 2017 at seafoodsummit.org. Attendees can sign up for the SeaWeb email list here to get a pre-registration reminder and access special early bird discounts.
