“Little Jimmy”: the tale of an immigrant child whose stubborn ways led him to find his own path to spirituality. “Little Jimmy” is the creation of published author, Franco La Monica, a contractor and self-educated man who has written numerous publications with the encouragement of his wife of thirty-four years. Having only four years of formal education in US limited him to a life of being shackled to the blue-collar syndrome. However, they say when the layman learns to write, one will get a different slant of history. Throughout the years, Franco La Monica acquired the love of reading books. After reading hundreds upon hundreds of them, he decided to write his own, including everything from novels to joke books, short stories, poems, hundreds of songs, and a nine-hundred-page history book.
“As they say, a road with no obstacles leads nowhere. So was the turbulent road toward his Damascus. They also say that the road most traveled is not the only road to destiny. Jimmy deviated.” --Franco La Monica
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Franco La Monica’s new book tells the story of an immigrant child who must forge his own destiny.
In 1962, a ten-year-old boy named Jimmy arrived in the United States. It was around the same time President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. He had one dollar in his pocket. He also had a vast English vocabulary consisting of exactly one word: “okay.”
A semi-autobiographical comedy loosely resembling the life of the author, “Little Jimmy” recounts the story of a stubborn immigrant kid who refused to follow the path most traveled. It takes a lot of sculpting and chiseling to achieve perfection, but Jimmy was never willing to be sculpted.
