New Live Webinar Covers Using DSC and Flash DSC to Describe Polymer Crystallization Behavior
Greifensee, Switzerland (PRWEB) November 06, 2017 -- METTLER TOLEDO is pleased to present a new live webinar, Crystallization Measured by Thermal Analysis, on Thursday, November 30th, 2017. The English-language presentation, offered three times to allow participation from around the globe, will explore polymer crystallization as measured by DSC and Flash DSC.
The properties of semi-crystalline polymers are significantly influenced by their crystalline structures, which depend on chemical structure, additives, and process conditions. Understanding crystallization behavior is important for accurate polymer characterization, which is in turn critical for effective compounding and processing.
Conventional DSC and temperature-modulated DSC are standard methods for evaluating polymer crystallization behavior. Recently, fast-scanning calorimetry (FSC) has also been used during cooling to analyze crystallization at processing conditions.
The webinar will explore how DSC and Flash DSC are used to analyze the crystallization behavior of semi-crystalline polymer using representative application examples. Through these examples, participants will see how heating and cooling rates can influence polymer reorganization and crystallization, which can make or break manufacturing outcomes.
Basic classical theory of nucleation and crystallization will also be presented, along with isothermal/non-isothermal crystallization kinetics and cold-crystallization/reorganization. Nucleation agent, additive, and filler influence will also be discussed, as will sample selection tips and instrument conditions that can improve measurement results.
The presentation will conclude with a Q&A so participants can have their most pressing application questions answered. Click here to register for the free, live crystallization presentation.
