Sitka Gear Partners with Conservationist Shane Mahoney to Support Wildlife Conservation
St. John's, Newfoundland (PRWEB) July 26, 2017 -- Sitka Gear, the leader in performance hunting gear, today announced a new partnership with wildlife conservationist and CEO of Conservation Visions, Shane Mahoney. Mahoney, considered one of conservation and hunting’s most influential and dynamic thought leaders, will work with Sitka on wildlife and environmental initiatives, as well as outreach in support of hunting’s positive role as both a meaningful tool for conservation and an important component of food security.
Sitka has also joined the growing coalition of support for the Wild Harvest Initiative®, a scientific study launched by Mahoney in 2015 as the first-ever comprehensive assessment of the social, economic, and ecological benefits of recreational wildlife harvest in the United States and Canada. Its outcomes will contribute to conversations about the relevance of wild animal harvest in modern North American society, exploring its connections to the conservation of wild lands and waters, the environment, and food security, helping to focus a wider question facing conservation policy institutions in both countries: If hunting and angling were to cease tomorrow, what would be the consequences?
“Wildlife conservation is essential to our way of life at Sitka,” said Jason Michelotti, Marketing Leader at Sitka Gear. “We are committed not only to providing our customers with the best high-performance system of hunting apparel, but also furthering awareness and promoting effective stewardship of our lands for wildlife and future generations to enjoy. We are excited to advance our partnership with our Conservation Advisor, Shane Mahoney, and support the Wild Harvest intiative, furthering our mission to be good environmental stewards.”
Mahoney is excited about the new partnership. “Sitka Gear has a track record of corporate responsibility and overall excellence,” he stated. “I believe that, together, we can do much good – most importantly to benefit wildlife, but also to prove the modern relevance of our hunting and angling traditions – and I am thrilled to have Sitka on board as a partner in the Wild Harvest Initiative®.”
