The International Pelvic Pain Society Will Answer, “What’s Going on Down There?”, When It Joins The PAINWeek National Conference For The First Time
Montclair, NJ (PRWEB) August 22, 2017 -- PAINWeek® — the largest US pain conference for frontline practitioners — is celebrating its 11th annual meeting. Joining the conference for the first time will be the International Pelvic Pain Society (IPPS). Dr. Georgine Lamvu, Chairman of the Board of IPPS, commented, “IPPS and PAINWeek join forces to provide critical educational resources to healthcare providers amid a complex and uncertain healthcare future.” Dr. Kathryn Witzeman, Secretary of the IPPS, added, “Female pelvic pain conditions are commonly overlooked and underrecognized, despite being quite common in reproductive aged women. Historically, women’s healthcare providers have focused recommendations on ‘end-organ’ treatment modalities and women continue to suffer daily from these approaches which often fail to treat the whole person and all of the contributing problems. The pelvic region is quite complex and encompasses many organ systems that can contribute to painful symptoms which greatly impact women from all walks of life and cultural/ethnic backgrounds."
Dr. Sawan As-Sanie, Vice President of IPPS, will be presenting along with Drs. Lamvu and Witzeman. Dr. Witzeman continued, "Emerging evidence now supports more interdisciplinary and integrative approaches that need to make it to the frontlines of women’s healthcare.”
Sessions on Friday, September 8, include The Painful Uterus and the Brain; Pelvis Gone Wild: A Sordid Tale of Musculoskeletal Dysfunction; When Pain Is Not Sexy: Evaluation and Management of Sexual Pain in Females; and Beyond Pharmacotherapy: An Integrated Approach to Managing Female Chronic Pelvic Pain. Throughout the Track, faculty will utilize clinical vignettes and video demonstrations.
Convening at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas September 5-9, PAINWeek 2017 expects to welcome over 2300 physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals for a comprehensive program of course offerings, satellite events, and exhibits. Additionally, over 100 exhibitors will be participating at the Exhibit Hall, commencing with the traditional Welcome Reception on Wednesday evening.
The Conference Preview, available at http://www.painweek.org/attendees/schedule.html, will provide a comprehensive overview of tracks and courses. As at prior PAINWeek conferences, the 2017 curriculum will feature a wealth of course concentrations, including behavioral pain management, health coaching, interventional pain management, master classes, medical/legal, neurology, palliative care, pharmacotherapy, physical therapy, as well as special interest sessions such as Using Electronic Pain Assessment Programs and Innovative Technology in Pain Medicine: Where Are We Now and Where Are We Going?; Opioid Sparing: Treating the Whole Patient; and As You Like It: The Business of Pain Medicine.
