Recovery doesn’t have to be such a secretive thing. It can be fun. It can be joyful. Through this book, I especially want to show others that they don’t have to be alone on their journey to becoming and staying sober.

A yoga practitioner, recreation therapy expert and professor has released her creative guidebook to overcoming addiction and co-dependency with the help of baking, yoga and faith. In “Cupcakes, Yoga, and Jesus,” Dr. Lyn G. Litchke delivers the inspiring true story of a mother and son’s journey from alcoholism to recovery and salvation.

Comprised of 12 simple chapters, Dr. Litchke’s book challenges mainstream notions of what an alcoholic or addict really looks like. In this, she explores the transformative nature of creativity in the recovery process as she exchanges happy hour for sessions of cupcake baking and enhances her faith-filled journey through practicing yoga.

About the author
Dr. Lyn G. Litchke has been a certified therapeutic recreation specialist for more than 25 years, holds a doctorate in adult professional and community education and has certifications in integrative yoga therapy, chair yoga and the Drums Alive program. Dr. Litchke is an associate professor of recreation therapy with Texas State University in San Marcos, from which she is the recipient of the 2016 Presidential Award for Excellence in Service.
