Franklin County Visitors Bureau Highlights Native American Pow Wow at Conococheague Institute
Franklin County, PA (PRWEB) August 31, 2017 -- Franklin County Visitors Bureau highlights “Drums on the Conococheague: Then and Now,” a Native American Pow Wow at Conococheague Institute in Mercersburg, on September 9-10, 2017. Pow Wow is a tradition to bring Native peoples together to dance, sing, renew friendships, make new friendships, and share the culture and history of Native Americans. The weekend-event will feature a grand entry of all the participants at noon on both Saturday and Sunday as well as a variety of dances, demonstrations of Native culture and customs, and re-enactments. Music will be provided by Medicine Horse Singers as Host Drum and Mother Earth Singers as Second Drum. Pow Wow will also include Aztec Dancers and Potamack Dancers. Learn and enjoy Native American culture.
“Drums on the Conococheague: Then and Now" is a blend of past and present history. The dance circle is open, so all Nations and people are welcome. Tickets are $5/person.
Conococheague Institute (CI), located at the historic Rock Hill Farm, is 30 acres of farmland, wetlands, meadows, and walking trails. CI interprets the interaction between Native Americans, Welsh, Scots-Irish and Germans.
