Hospice of Westchester Partners with Music Conservatory of Westchester
Westchester County, NY (PRWEB) September 07, 2017 -- Hospice of Westchester (HOW), which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is thrilled to announce that it has partnered with the Music Conservatory of Westchester and its Music Therapy Institute (MTI). Through this partnership, MTI will provide music therapy services to HOW’s patients as part of The Anna & Louis H. Shereff Complementary Care Program.
Music therapy promotes quality of life, offers emotional support, and creates a feeling of overall well-being. Board Certified Music Therapists use the intrinsic healing elements of a shared music experience while providing a healing environment for patients and their families.
“We are delighted about our new partnership, and know that the educated music therapists provided by MTI will be a wonderful addition to our program,” said Mary K. Spengler, MS, chief executive officer of HOW. “Our Complementary Care Program is one of the cornerstones of our organization, and we are thrilled to continually be able to offer our patients and their families these services.”
HOW was one of the first organizations in Westchester County to establish a Complementary Care Program in 2000, which further supports the organization’s commitment to increasing the well-being and improving the quality of life of its patients. The program provides a variety of therapies including massage, music and art therapies, reflexology, pet therapy and a compassionate doula at no cost to patients.
The MTI is the largest provider of professional music therapy services in the greater Westchester region, working individually and in small groups with more than 2,000 children and adults each year.
“As Director of the Music Therapy Institute’s Outreach program, I am so pleased to partner with Hospice of Westchester. We feel privileged to be a part of this beautiful program,” said Lisa Sandagata, Music Therapy Institute, Music Conservatory of Westchester.
