The national law firm Chamberlain, Hrdlicka, White, Williams & Aughtry is pleased to announce that Catherine Berryman will be a presenter at the ATIXA/SCOPE Joint National Conference in Philadelphia on October 3 - October 6. The conference, a product of both the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) and the School and College Organization for Prevention Educators (SCOPE), will focus on compliance and prevention to provide a well-rounded program about campus sexual violence to attendees.
Berryman is co-presenting “Lessons from Former Public Defenders: How to Conduct a Fair, Neutral, Impartial Investigation that Promotes Due Process and Respects All Parties.” Berryman, who was a Philadelphia public defender for nearly a decade, will share the insights and skills she has learned and how she applies her experience to conducting impartial Title IX investigations. Her co-presenter is Nyssa Taylor, a former public defender and Title IX Manager at Rowan University.
Berryman often is consulted as an independent Title IX investigator for educational institutions on issues related to sexual assault, sexual harassment, or intimate partner violence. She has conducted more than 30 investigations for educational institutions. In addition, she has represented institutions in civil rights litigation and contract claims matters. She has represented companies in matters related to wrongful termination, sexual harassment, and sexual discrimination.
