LEAD1 Association Hires Air Charter Consultants
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) September 06, 2017 -- A recent webinar sponsored by the LEAD1 Association on the issues facing university athletic programs in arranging air charter travel for their sports programs revealed that over 93 percent of the registrants and attendees are concerned about the long-term availability of safe and reliable air charter for their teams.
Tom McMillen, President and Chief Executive Officer of LEAD 1, said “They see many challenges to their institutions: major carriers are leaving the charter market, there is less availability of equipment and capable crew, the costs are escalating—and the overriding concern for safety must remain paramount.
“To help deal with these difficulties, the LEAD1 Association is pleased to announce we have retained two leading consultants, Nikki Watson and Kevin Maguire, to help us find solutions to the growing scarcity of safe, dependable, and cost-effective air charter.”
McMillen added, “Both Maguire and Watson know very well the demands of college sports travel. Maguire was Director of Travel for Intercollegiate Athletics for the University of Texas and also has extensive experience in corporate and international air charter operations. Watson was the Assistant Director of Business Intelligence and Project Management for the NCAA and created the Fundamentals of Sports Travel Program. She also developed the enterprise charter bus and consolidated hotel programs for the NCAA, which resulted in greater safety for the schools while lowering costs."
McMillen concluded, “Many LEAD1 schools are geographically distant from their rivals and time management is critical for LEAD1 student-athletes, both during the regular season and the postseason games. More accessible and centralized air charter procurement for LEAD1 member schools will provide more time for study by our student-athletes, and save money for our schools. LEAD1 looks forward to working with Maguire and Watson to help improve air charter travel for our member schools.”
