Dr. Leslie Bonar, DDS, Comments on New "Sedation Dentistry" Services
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 06, 2017 -- Patients come to dentists for a variety of reasons. However, Dr. Leslie Bonar of Grand Dentistry in Escondido believes that the three overwhelming reasons people visit the dentist are: (a) they like the dentist, (b) they trust the dentist, and (c) their insurance company will pay the bill for them.
"Dental offices are virtually never the patients’ favorite places to be," says Dr. Bonar. "They are places where people go on a routine, six-month basis, to maintain oral health. The old adage, 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,' holds true in dentistry as well as many other parts of our lives. Some people adhere to that concept and some do not. The ones that do not just stay away...for years, even decades. They are not WRONG, just fearful or had a bad memory from childhood. 45% of Americans do not go to the dentist due to fear and anxiety. That is almost HALF of the country."
Instead of allowing this epidemic to grow, Dr. Bonar is taking action. Her practice now offers "Sedation Dentistry", a service where clients are allowed to safely relax and sleep during an appointment. "Your vital signs, oxygen, and pulse rate will all be monitored as you are tucked under a nice soft blanket, with a pillow and TLC given during the entire dental visit," says Bonar, who affirms that this service will appease even the most anxious of patients.
Dr. Bonar continues, "All of a patient's necessary and cosmetic treatment can be completed in one appointment, including a cleaning. Patients love it and we enjoy it because we can do our best and most artistic dentistry. We know our patient is comfortable and we can precisely focus on the details. Veneers and new smiles turn out BEAUTIFULLY! They get home, complete their nap and when we call to check on them, they do not recall the appointment!"
In summary, Dr's Bonar and Dr. Basso of Grand Dentistry say, "We find that actually listening to the patient's dental 'history' and hearing what they desire in the 'future' is the most important part of the exam." People just want value, and they want to be heard. With a patient's feedback, we will know how to best serve them and keep them as valued patients in their dental home for years to come.
