pCare™ Interactive Patient Systems, provided by TVR Communications, have been implemented in over 400 positions at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UMPC, delivering a customized “kid-friendly” experience that entertains as well as provides education and care information. pCare is the multi-year recipient of the KLAS Category Leader rating for its pCare solution (2015-2017 Best in KLAS: Software and Services Report).

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC (CHP) is one of 10 pediatric hospitals named to U.S. News & World Report's Honor Roll of America’s “Best Children’s Hospitals” for 2014–2015. CHP is also the first Pediatric Hospital in the nation to achieve HIMSS Level 7. pCare was selected due to its unique features, ability to customize, advanced integration capabilities, and comprehensive system support.

pCare is available on both in-room TVs and tablets for a seamless dual-screen experience that delivers unified or independent viewing for patients and family members. The custom user interface supports CHP branding and messaging, including generating awareness for a donor program, PNC Grow Up Great®. pCare drives patient engagement with lively and entertaining characters, age-appropriate on-demand movies, TV shows, relaxation programming, and educational games. pCare is also available on tablets in common areas and outpatient treatment spaces.

pCare integrates with CHP’s Cerner® EHR to automatically send education and safety information directly to in-room TVs and tablets. Workflows deliver customized content, plus delivery and comprehension is automatically documented in the EHR.

“Working with pediatric service providers is always rewarding as they are such special members of the community,” states Frank Forte, Chief Business Development Officer, TVR Communications. “It was a privilege working with the CHP team to support young patients and help make a difference in their care.”
