Kennywood Earns Honors for Rides, Special Events
BRISTOL, CONN. (PRWEB) September 10, 2017 -- For the eighth consecutive year, Noah and his ark have landed a whale of an honor: the Golden Ticket Award for Best Funhouse/Walkthrough Attraction!
Kennywood's Noah's Ark attraction was once again recognized as the world's best ride of its kind at Saturday's Golden Ticket Awards ceremony. Held jointly at Connecticut amusement parks Quassy and Lake Compounce, the Golden Ticket Awards highlight the best of the best in the industry, as voted on by theme park aficionados and compiled by industry publication Amusement Today.
"The Golden Ticket Awards make for one of our biggest weekends of the year," says Amusement Today's Tim Baldwin, Golden Ticket Awards Events Coordinator. "We put weeks and weeks of work into the event, but when it comes down to celebrating all that is great in the industry, it's all worth it."
Along with Noah's Ark, Kennywood's Merry Go Round was named a finalist for Best Carousel, and both Phantom Fright Nights and Holiday Lights made Top-5 lists for Best Halloween and Christmas events, respectively.
"Being a finalist in four categories certainly illustrates that Kennywood staff care about what they are doing," Baldwin says. "The holiday festivals have grown in popularity, and the park has developed a perfect mix of the newest thrill rides blended with old classics. Noah's Ark is just one example of the park's many charms, as is Thunderbolt, a really beloved wooden coaster. Combine that with the highly-ranked Phantom's Revenge, and the park has something for everyone, regardless of age. I can see why local residents consider the park something really special, and I'm envious of those who can visit regularly."
While Phantom's Revenge dropped in the Best Steel Coasters rankings from #10 to #12, its namesake seasonal event, Phantom Fright Nights, again ranked among the industry's Best Halloween Events. Kennywood fans can find out why Phantom Fright Nights earned such high marks starting September 29, when the Pittsburgh Halloween favorite begins its 17th season.
