EVS Metal Obtains New ISO 9001:2015 Certification Across All Metal Fabrication and Manufacturing Facilities
Riverdale, NJ (PRWEB) September 11, 2017 -- EVS Metal (http://www.evsmetal.com), a leading American metal fabricator and manufacturer, recently completed the process of ISO 9001:2015 certification across all four of its American facilities. While adopting ISO 9001 standards is not required of manufacturers, it has become the definitive way to communicate to the outside world that a company holds itself to a high level of professionalism in terms of quality.

As an overall organization, EVS found the changes to the ISO standards to be not just significant, but meaningful. For example, the old standards state that companies may choose to ignore certain requirements, as long as that decision doesn’t affect quality outcomes or break the law. However, the 2015 standards call for both an explanation and a justification as to why the requirements were not implemented; in order words, they demand more responsibility for and accountability over the choice to not implement requirements.
Another major change to ISO 9001:2015 that EVS found impactful can be found in clause number four, what used to be “Quality Management System(QMS)," and is now called “Context of the Organization.” By “context,” ISO is referring to a company’s “big picture” view — its values, place in the industry, and culture. Asking companies like EVS to take the time to define these variables gives them an outstanding opportunity to design and implement a QMS that is effective and results-oriented based on their specific organization’s needs.
While re-certifying to new ISO standards can be a formidable task to undertake, EVS Metal ultimately found that the process allowed them to gain a better understanding of their own organizational context, and believes it will be enormously helpful to the company’s future viability in the competitive metal fabrication space.
