Travis Manion Foundation Marks 10 Years of Support for Veterans and Families of Fallen Military
Doylestown, PA (PRWEB) September 08, 2017 -- The Travis Manion Foundation, a leading veteran service organization, will mark their 10th Anniversary in September of 2017. TMF became a national Veteran Service Organization committed to empowering our military community to lead a movement of character that would inspire generations to come. TMF President Ryan Manion states:
“With my brother’s words, “If Not Me, Then Who…” as our north star, our mission has been made richer by the thousands of Spartan members who have joined it.
Since those early days, we’ve worked together to carry on the legacies of leadership and selflessness that Travis, Brendan, and thousands of others who have given their lives in service, have built. We continue to honor those legacies as we reach the 16th Anniversary of September 11th, 2001 with the 9/11 Heroes Run. Thousands will come together to honor sacrifices and selfless service of the first responders, military service members, and volunteers who stepped forward in our nation’s greatest time of need.
Today we stand---100,000 veterans, survivors, and inspired civilians strong--looking forward to all that is to come. Truly, we’ve only just begun.
Thanks for an incredible ten years. Here’s to a hundred more together.”
The Travis Manion Foundation organizes the 9/11 Heroes Run 5K series each year, which was inspired by Marine 1st Lt. Travis Manion, who was killed by a sniper in Iraq in April 2007 as he selflessly protected his battalion. Before his final deployment, Travis visited Rescue One in NYC—famous for losing almost all of their men on 9/11—and returned home with deeper passion about why he was fighting in Iraq. At its heart, the 9/11 Heroes Run is a tribute to a personal commitment to never forget the heroes of that day. Now in its tenth year, the 9/11 Heroes Run national race series is held in more than 50 locations across the country and around the world. Last year, more than 50,000 people participated in race locations around the world or as virtual runners, to support military, veterans, first responders and their families through TMF.
