All Hands Volunteers to Participate in 2017 Cantor Fitzgerald Charity Day
Mattapoisett, MA (PRWEB) September 08, 2017 -- All Hands Volunteers, the leading disaster relief organization powered by volunteers, has been chosen to participate in the 2017 Cantor Fitzgerald Charity Day which started in honor of the 658 Cantor Fitzgerald friends and colleagues and 61 Eurobroker employees who lost their lives on September 11, 2011. Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC Partners in conjunction with the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund donates 100% of their global revenues during Charity Day to participating charities.
The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund invites celebrity guests from a wide range of industries to work with licensed brokers to raise funds. Supermodel and philanthropist Petra Nemcova will be representing All Hands Volunteers at the 2017 Cantor Fitzgerald Charity Day. In 2017, Ms. Nemcova was named a Disaster Risk Reduction champion by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). Appointed by UNISDR, the champions advocate for building resilient communities and reducing disaster risk. Champions are key political figures who are active and committed to disaster risk reduction.
"We cannot stop natural disasters but we can arm ourselves with the knowledge of sustainability,” said Petra Nemcova. “As support fades once first responders leave, it's our organizations that work during the rebuilding process."
Charity Day serves as the symbol of hope and togetherness in the wake of disasters. This message is especially relevant now, just days after Hurricane Harvey struck the United States, unleashing four feet of rain and unprecedented levels of damage along the Gulf Coast and inland. Ms. Nemcova will be representing All Hands at the Charity Day event as, thousands of miles away, the organization’s Hurricane Harvey Response Program is unfolding in Texas. The Program will mobilize an average of 200 volunteers a day to help survivors in multiple Texas communities, the organization’s largest program in its 12 year history. Also an experienced provider of long term flood recovery and repair work, All Hands expects to be in Texas for three to five years to help families with the repairing their homes.
