Tanya Rutherford Owen Named Journal of Life Care Planning Editor
St. Paul, Minn. (PRWEB) September 08, 2017 -- The International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP) Life Care Planning IALCP Section Board of Directors is pleased to announce Tanya Rutherford Owen, PhD, CRC, CLCP, LPC, as the new editor of the Journal of Life Care Planning. Dr. Owen served on the editorial board for the journal for two years and became interim editor in November 2016, when the position was vacated. Since that time she has worked tirelessly and competently to continue publication of the journal.
Dr. Owen is a certified rehabilitation counselor and life care planner and has been in private practice in Arkansas since 2001. She holds a PhD in rehabilitation and is active as an adjunct professor and guest lecturer in the Department of Rehabilitation, Education and Research at the University of Arkansas. She has researched and published articles in the Journal of Life Care Planning, the Rehabilitation Professional and the Journal of Rehabilitation and has presented at numerous professional conferences and seminars.
The Journal of Life Care Planning publishes refereed articles relevant to the practice and processes of life care planning. Its objectives include adding to the growing literature base of the practice of life care planning, providing a forum for debate and discussion of practice issues, and addressing matters relevant to certification, ethics, standards of practice, and research methodologies. In a survey, members of the life care planning IALCP section overwhelming found the journal to be of significant value to their professional development.
Dr. Owen states that as interim editor, it has been rewarding for her to have exposure to so many knowledgeable people within the organization and to have people contacting her with ideas for research and publication. She is looking for new contributors and exciting research ideas. She is presently in the process of restructuring the journal editorial board in collaboration with Scott Smith, editor of the Rehabilitation Professional.
