Pet Leadership Council Partners with GreaterGood.org to Maximize Relief Efforts for Hurricane Irma
Greenwich, CT (PRWEB) September 11, 2017 -- In order to streamline relief efforts and ensure maximum assistance from the country’s pet care community to those most in need, the Pet Leadership Council has partnered with GreaterGood.org to provide aid to those impacted by both Hurricanes Harvey and now Irma. After significant coordination of logistics and support from pet suppliers for those affected by Hurricane Harvey, this partnership will further streamline the delivery of donations to shelters and rescues impacted by Irma in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
“While support from so many companies has been tremendous, we’re most helpful if we have allies on the ground and entrenched in the direct relief efforts,” said Bob Vetere Pet Leadership Council Chairman. “With our partnership with GreaterGood.org, we’re now able to have more accurate transport information and direction in connecting our medical supplies, food, and other aid, to those who can get it to all the shelters and areas where it is needed most.”
GreaterGood.org has been and will continue to help The Pet Leadership Council and is managing the distribution of desperately needed items from PLC members, including food, crates, litter, hard goods and veterinary medical products, provided by almost two dozen major brands and retailers. In the first few days of response, they have either shipped, received in warehouses, or have scheduled to arrive, enough pet food for one million meals along with other critical supplies.
“We are thrilled with our partnership with the Pet Leadership Council,” says Liz Baker, GreaterGood.org’s Executive Director. “PLC members are a critical link in times of disaster allowing us to get much-needed supplies out efficiently and quickly to help pets in need.”
More information on how companies and the general public can assist in the hurricane aid efforts is available at http://www.petleadershipcouncil.org. Lists of critical needs and shipping locations are updated daily, information on where to donate to aid providing organizations and a map of locations for operating stores, shelters and hospitals is featured as well as services to locate lost pets, foster hurricane pets, find temporary housing for pets and more.
