Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital to Deliver Keynotes at HIMSS' Big Data and Healthcare Analytics Forum
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) September 14, 2017 -- HIMSS is pleased to announce healthcare data researchers John Quakenbush, Ph.D., and Niteesh Choudhry, M.D., Ph.D., will be delivering the keynote addresses at the Big Data and Healthcare Analytics Forum (http://www.bigdatahitforum.com/boston/2017).
Being held at the Westin Copley Place Hotel in Boston on October 23 – 24, 2017, the forum offers insights and best practices from nationally recognized thought leaders on transforming healthcare data into smarter clinical and business decisions.
A Professor of Biostatistics and Computational Biology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Harvard School of Public Health, John Quakenbush studies genomic data to understand what drives the development of cancer and emphysema. In his keynote address, “Healthcare is Awash in Data—Now What?,” he will explain how healthcare organizations can get more value out of the vast amount of data they collect.
Although Healthcare organizations have made huge investments in technology, many hospitals, providers and payers lack the tools they need to make sense of the data they are generating. Quakenbush will explain how to make information more easily accessible so that healthcare workers can use it to make faster, better decisions.
An internist and health services researcher, Niteesh Choudhry finds novel strategies to improve healthcare quality and reduce spending in his role as Executive Director at the Center for Healthcare Delivery Sciences, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
In his keynote address, “Less Intervention or More? Let the Data Decide,” Choudhry will discuss how to use data to run smarter interventions for non-adherence to evidence-based medications, a problem estimated to cost the U.S. almost $300 billion annually.
“There’s no question that advanced analytics can help the healthcare industry provide better care while managing costs,” said John Whelan, Executive Vice President of HIMSS Media. “We’re delighted to offer forum attendees the tools they need to acquire the right data, translate it into intelligent business and clinical decisions, and continue to make the transition from fee-based to value-based care.”
If you cover the healthcare industry, the forum will give you access to visionaries shaping the future of healthcare analytics. Press and media passes are available to qualified individuals, but space is limited. Contact Peggy Diab to receive your pass and to set up interviews with speakers or HIMSS Media representatives.
